Getting Started

Getting started

Thank you for visiting and considering working with CONE! We are intentional about how we work and with whom we partner, and on this page you’ll find detailed information about the process of becoming a client and what you can expect in a relationship with CONE.

We strive to act from and design our business practices to reflect our values: economic justice, commons, integrity, generosity, collaboration, and close attention. In centering these values, we work to foster a culture that allows us to fully show up for our clients, our families, our communities, and ourselves.

First Steps

After you reach out to us, we’ll set up a free initial consultation. This conversation is an opportunity to begin to get to know each other, share about CONE and how we work, and learn about your organization and needs.

There will likely be additional emailing to clarify parameters of the work and answer questions on both sides. We may also share a client survey to collect more detailed information from you in an organized way.

Once we both feel ready to work together, we will send a proposal and contract outlining the scope of work, timeline, client and contractor commitments, and legal stuff that makes our attorney happy. We are glad to answer questions throughout this process so that we can fine tune the proposal.

Onboarding

Our onboarding process will vary based on the type of work we’re doing together, but it will usually involve gathering all the information that we need to begin work. We will provide you with a list of required information and documents, and discuss a realistic timeline for providing it.

This phase of work can take some time depending on where your organization is in its development. If you are working with us on fundraising strategy or grant writing, collecting this information and documentation is necessary for us to fully understand your organization and is a prerequisite for beginning grant research or grant writing.

We will also set a schedule for regular check-in meetings and review the logistics of working together.
