Cone PDX was founded by Jen Mitas in 2017 to provide socially engaged artists and arts organizations with fundraising and production support. Clients include The Field, My Voice Music, Portland Playhouse, Rejoice! Diaspora Dance Theater, and Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington.
Mitas is Network Manager for The Field’s National Network and a 2018-19 Conversation Project leader with Oregon Humanities. Her current art practice is focused on the use / re-use of objects in performance (Object Karaoke).
From 1997-2002 she was a performance maker in New York where her work was commissioned by Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) and performed at WOW Cafe, Dixon Place, and Exit Art Gallery. From 2006-2012 she was on faculty at Queen Mary University of London in the Drama Department and performed her work at venues, including Battersea Arts Center and the Live Art Development Agency.
She has a BA in Theatre and Communications from Antioch College and a PhD in Performance from Queen Mary University of London.
